About Me

I’m Julie, the owner of Upstairs Downstairs Organizing.

I love supporting people through life transitions and helping people make their space work better for them. I believe that you feel calmer when the environment around you is calmer.

After working in child care and health care, plus spending many years volunteering in the community when my children were small, I was ready for another phase in life. After helping friends organize kitchens, basements, and closets, I became a professional organizer in 2019.

How the Process Works

Service area – City of Seattle

Free consultation – Contact me and I will reach out to you to schedule. I prefer to do in person consultations so we can discuss your project goals and challenges and I can give you an estimate of how many hours it might take.

Sessions – I usually schedule 3 hour sessions. After that, decision fatigue sets in and people are mentally and emotionally exhausted. We will work together on one area at a time and decide what is to be kept, donated, recycled, or thrown away, and come up with storage solutions.

Where does my stuff go? Donations/trash/recycling/shredding/ electronics/resources as needed – At the end of each session, trash and recycling go to your bins. I can take donations to various thrift stores and nonprofits – whatever fits in my car that I can load and unload without assistance.

Forms of Payment –  I charge $100 per hour plus city of Seattle sales tax. I can accept payment via cash, check, or Zelle.

It's not about getting rid of everything.
It's about being more intentional about what you're keeping and why.

Testimonials

Julie is great to work with— patient and ready with suggestions of what to let go of.
I feel lighter and my place is roomier . I cannot recommend her too highly!

I have been helping an 81 year old whose living space had become completely filled with the stuff of a lifetime. Julie was recommended by another organizer,  who thought she’d be the right person for the job. I couldn’t be happier! She is compassionate, patient, efficient, and a great communicator. She really cares. And she has managed to build trust with a very reluctant client.  I am so pleased and grateful!

I have worked with Julie for a few years now, through many changes in my life. Initially I needed help setting up the spare bedroom for my father while he was in the hospital. Then I became his sole caregiver, and she help me with strategies in maintaining a chore schedule, time management, and overall organization of many things that I did not expect when I became his caregiver.

When my father passed she was there helping me deal with his possessions and lots and lots of paperwork, and phone calls. I was even able to call her and text her while I was trying to clean out his house.

She’s been amazingly supportive of all the things I’ve gone through. Very compassionate, adjusting plans and strategies, even when emotions took over and clouded my thinking and general ability to handle stuff.
